Summary: Mockfy is a practice platform for the Academic IELTS test; it is not the official test and is not connected with the organisations that run IELTS. Bands for Writing, Speaking and the Speaking Room are automatic estimates, not official scores. Use one account, keep the test content to yourself, treat other learners with respect and never record anyone without permission. Points have no cash value. This summary is for convenience only; the full terms below are what apply.
1. Agreement to these terms
These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and Mockfy ("Mockfy", "we", "us") about your use of the Mockfy website, apps and services (the "Service"). By creating an account, ticking the box during sign-up or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms, to the Acceptable Use Policy and to our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle your personal information. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
2. Who can use Mockfy
- You must be at least 13 years old. If you are under 18, or under the age of majority where you live, you may use Mockfy only with the permission of a parent or guardian, who accepts these Terms on your behalf.
- You must be able to sign in with a Google account that you are allowed to use.
- You may not use the Service if we have previously blocked your account, unless we have agreed otherwise in writing.
3. Your account
- Sign-in. You sign in with Google. We do not see or store your Google password. You are responsible for keeping your Google account secure; anything done through your Mockfy account is treated as done by you.
- One person, one account. Do not share your account or create several accounts, for example to gain extra points or a better position on the leaderboard.
- Name and username. Use your real name or a reasonable version of it. Your username must not impersonate another person or organisation, mislead others or be offensive. We may change or remove a username that breaks these rules.
- Accurate information. Keep your profile accurate. Tell us through Send feedback if you believe someone else is using your account.
4. What the Service provides
Mockfy offers practice materials for the Academic IELTS test, including full mock tests, single-section practice tests, Daily English stages, results and review pages, recommendations, a leaderboard, friends, a blog, documentation and the Speaking Room for practising speaking with another learner.
4.1 Not the official test
IELTS is a registered trademark of the University of Cambridge, the British Council and IDP Education. Mockfy is an independent service. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by these organisations, and our materials are original practice materials written by the Mockfy team, not past or official IELTS papers.
4.2 Estimated scores
Listening and Reading bands are calculated from the number of correct answers using conversion tables that approximate those commonly used for IELTS. Writing, Speaking and Speaking Room bands are produced automatically from features of your text or speech, such as length, organisation, vocabulary, grammar range and fluency. They are guides to help you practise. They are not official scores, not a prediction or guarantee of any result in a real test, and may differ significantly from the band an examiner would award. Do not rely on them for decisions such as applications to universities, employers or immigration authorities.
4.3 Changes to the Service
We are continually improving Mockfy. We may add, change or remove features, tests and content at any time, and we may publish, hide or retire tests. We will try to give notice of important changes, for example through the announcement banner.
5. Acceptable use
You must follow the Acceptable Use Policy. In short, you agree not to copy or share test content outside the Service, use bots or scrapers, cheat on points or the leaderboard, interfere with the Service or its security, harass other learners, impersonate anyone, or break the law. If you discover a security problem, report it privately as described in Security.
6. The Speaking Room and other learners
- Calls are between learners. The Speaking Room connects your camera and microphone directly to another learner's browser. Mockfy does not record the video or audio of these calls. Only the answers of the learner who is answering are recorded, to be turned into text and estimate their band; the recordings are not kept (see the Privacy Policy).
- Consent. Do not record, screenshot, stream or share another learner's image, voice or words without their clear permission.
- Respect. Keep the conversation relevant to practice and respectful. You may leave a session at any time; leaving ends the session for both participants.
- Your responsibility. We do not check the identity of learners or monitor calls in real time, and we are not responsible for what another learner says or does. If someone behaves badly, leave the session and report them through Send feedback, including their @username.
- Who can see you. Anyone signed in can find you by name or username and invite you to a call. You can always decline a call.
7. Your content
"Your content" means what you create or submit on Mockfy, including answers, essays, spoken answers and their transcripts, highlights, feedback messages and your profile details.
- You own it. You keep any rights you have in your content.
- Permission to use it. You give Mockfy a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store, copy, process and display your content only as needed to operate, secure and improve the Service, for example to mark your answers, show your results and history, and show the public parts of your profile to other learners as described in the Privacy Policy.
- Improving the Service. We may use answers and results in aggregated or de-identified form to check and improve test quality, for example to find questions that are unclear or have a wrong answer key.
- Feedback. If you send us ideas or suggestions, we may use them freely without paying you or giving you credit.
- You are responsible for making sure that you have the right to submit your content and that it does not break these Terms.
8. Points, streaks and the leaderboard
- Points, stars and streaks measure and encourage practice. They have no cash value, cannot be sold, transferred or exchanged for money, and are not your property.
- We may change how points are earned, correct mistakes, adjust or remove points that were earned dishonestly or because of a bug, and reset leaderboards.
- In the future we may let learners use points for premium features. If we do, the rules will be explained when the feature is introduced.
- Your name, username, photo, points, rank and streak appear on the leaderboard and your profile, which other signed-in learners can see.
9. Mockfy's content and intellectual property
The Service, including its tests, passages, recordings, questions, answer explanations, model answers, Daily English stages, blog articles, documentation, designs, software, the Mockfy name and the Hudi character, belongs to Mockfy or its licensors and is protected by copyright and other laws. We give you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable permission to use the Service for your own, non-commercial exam preparation, in line with these Terms. Teachers and schools that want to use Mockfy with groups of students should contact us first.
10. Fees
Mockfy is currently free to use. If we introduce paid features, we will explain the price and terms before you pay, and you will never be charged without agreeing to it first. Free features available today may continue to be free or may later become part of a paid plan; we will give reasonable notice of such a change.
11. Suspension and ending your account
- By you. You can stop using Mockfy at any time. You can delete your account and its data yourself in Settings → Account → Delete account, or contact us as described in the Privacy Policy.
- By us. We may limit, suspend or block your account, remove content, or remove you from the leaderboard if we reasonably believe you have broken these Terms, put other learners or the Service at risk, or if the law requires it. A blocked account cannot sign in. Where appropriate we will tell you why, unless doing so would create a risk or break the law.
- If you believe your account was blocked by mistake, contact us and we will review the decision.
- Sections 7 (licence for feedback and de-identified data), 8 (no cash value), 9, 12, 13, 15 and 16 continue to apply after your account ends.
12. Disclaimers
We work hard to make Mockfy accurate, useful and available, but the Service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the extent permitted by law, we do not promise that:
- the Service will be uninterrupted, secure or free of errors, or that your data will never be lost;
- tests, answers, explanations, model answers or estimated bands are complete, correct or reflect the current official test;
- using Mockfy will lead to any particular result in an IELTS test or any other assessment.
Practise in addition to, not instead of, official preparation materials and guidance from qualified teachers.
13. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, Mockfy and its team will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, or for loss of profits, opportunities, data or goodwill, arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Service, including decisions you make based on estimated bands. Because the Service is provided free of charge, our total liability to you for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, if any. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, such as liability for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence, and nothing affects rights you have as a consumer that cannot be waived.
14. Third-party services
Mockfy relies on services provided by others, including Google sign-in, our hosting and database providers, a speech-to-text provider and your browser's video calling features. They are listed in Subprocessors. Your use of those services may also be subject to their own terms. We are not responsible for services we do not control, but we choose them carefully and describe how they are used in the Privacy Policy.
15. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time, for example when we add new features or when the law changes. We will change the "Last updated" date above and, for significant changes, let you know in the app before they take effect. If you continue to use Mockfy after the changes take effect, you accept the updated Terms. If you do not agree, you should stop using the Service and may ask us to delete your account.
16. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Uzbekistan, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and disputes will be handled by the competent courts of the Republic of Uzbekistan, unless the law of the country where you live gives you the right to bring a claim there. Before starting any formal proceedings, please contact us so that we can try to resolve the issue informally.
If any part of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of our right to do so later. You may not transfer your rights under these Terms; we may transfer ours as part of a reorganisation or sale of the Service, and we will tell you if that happens.
