The Speaking section is a recorded interview with the examiner's voice. It has three parts.
| Part | What happens | Time |
|---|---|---|
| Part 1 | Questions about familiar topics: home, study, work, hobbies | 4–5 minutes |
| Part 2 | A task card: 1 minute to prepare, then up to 2 minutes to talk | 3–4 minutes |
| Part 3 | A discussion of wider ideas linked to Part 2 | 4–5 minutes |
Microphone check
- Allow microphone access when the browser asks.
- On the intro screen, say a sentence in English.
- The bar moves while you speak. A few seconds later the check shows the words it heard, for example We heard: "I live in Tashkent". If it shows your words, your answers will be understood.
If no words appear, move closer to the microphone, speak a little louder and check again.
Answering
- The examiner asks each question aloud.
- Start speaking after the beep.
- Press Finish answer when you are done. The next question follows.
In Part 2 you have one minute to prepare, and notes are allowed. Then speak for up to two minutes.
How your answers are marked
Each answer is recorded and turned into text (a transcript). Your band is an estimate of:
- Fluency and coherence: how long and how smoothly you speak, and how long your pauses are,
- Lexical resource: the range of your vocabulary,
- Grammatical range and accuracy: the variety of your sentence structures.
Note: Pronunciation is not marked automatically. Listen to your own answers on the results page to judge it yourself.
Privacy
Your recordings are visible only to you, on your results page. They are never shown to other learners, even if you share your results.
